Country Hills Fire Department

WHO WE ARE:

Highly trained firefighters who protect the lives and property of Bridgewater and Branchburg Townships in Somerset County, New Jersey.

WHAT SERVICES DO WE PERFORM:

CHFD responds to all kinds of calls for assistance, from fire alarms to structure fires, from assisting the rescue squad at motor vehicle accidents to setting up a landing zone for Medivac Helicopters.  Over the last few years, CHFD has provided assistance to other companies as far away as Somerville, Hillsborough, Raritan, Bound Brook, and Somerset, New Jersey.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERE IS A FIRE:

All department firefighters are issued a pager.  The pager is activated by Bridgewater Police Communications or Somerset County Communications when there is an emergency.  Firefighters respond in their personal vehicles to their assigned station.  Once at the station, the firefighters don their turnout gear and respond to the call for help in the fire engine.

HOW DOES THE DEPARTMENT WORK:

CHFD elects fire line officers and executive (administrative) officers to lead the company.  Line officers handle the firematic aspects of the company and must meet requirements as set forth by the State of New Jersey to assume the duties of the position.  The company is guided by an Executive Board which handles the business aspects of the company.

WHEN DO WE MEET:

Our weekly meetings are Tuesday nights at Station 1.  Activities include business meetings, work details, training sessions and equipment maintenance.
